About Us

Mild Fuzz is a podcast network that began as a single idea in 2013.  Starting with just a few international friends, we grew over a year to featuring multiple podcasts with eight regular contributors.  With this growth came more ideas and better equipment.

All of the podcats presented below are not intended to be serious journalism, simply laid back conversations amongst friends about topics they care deeply about.

Peter’s an avid film fan with taste ranging from the classic and critically acclaimed to trashy horror and action of the 1980s.  His favourite genre is science fiction, although he does own twice as many horror films.   Naturally he also loves TV, video games and comics.

Alden Diaz

Regular Podcasts: The Slayer Revisited

Alden’s been an MF’er since late 2014 when he began bothering Mario and Matt about doing a show where they’d do nothing but talk about Star Wars. Flash forward a little bit and the idea became a reality in the form of SITH HAPPENS, the Star Wars podcast. Alden is often called the Padawan of the MF bros as he’s young and generally optimistic. Why is that? Because he was spoiled by growing up in this geek age that we all love so much. He’s a lover of Marvel, a liker of DC, and a Whedon diehard. He doesn’t enjoy long walks on the beach but does enjoy Netflixing it up with his friends.

Essentially, Alden is a student of the game. There’s a lot of awesome geek stuff that he’d consider himself an expert on, but still a lot more to learn. So when he’s talking with the bros and they’re NOT shoving him into lockers, it’s usually an entertaining education.

Allen Mauldin

Regular Podcasts: Almost Cancelled

Oh, and Allen also likes to write comics. Whether they get made is another story entirely. He pretty much thrives on comics. He works as a Comic’s Manager at an entertainment shop in Columbia, South Carolina. He reads comics, sells comics, and tries to make comics. SO MANY COMICS!

Aside from comic books, Allen loves movies and television. He also enjoys video games but he’s pretty much stuck in the ‘90s as Super Nintendo is his favorite video game system of all time and still has trouble understanding why people can’t accept that as the pinnacle of video games… Sorry… But outside of nerdy stuff, he loves Samurai culture, tons of different types of music except the majority of country and pop, wolves and dogs (but mostly wolves, don’t let his pets know), and has a massive desire to travel as much as he can.

Mario Miranda

I’m going to give you a peak behind the curtain, we wrote our own bios so I’m skipping the whole referring to myself in the third person thing. I like all kinds of nerdy things but comic books and Star Wars are generally towards the top of the list. I also enjoy collecting statues and figures of Star Wars and Marvel related characters (a few DC characters too) and hanging up commissions and original comic art around my house.

I may or may not be Michael Pena’s cousin and I live in Los Angeles so I’m probably never further than 10 miles from a comic shop. Also, I enjoy tacos from time to time.

Connor Ryan

Regular Podcasts: Almost Cancelled, Comics From the Multiverse

Connor is a ginger who also happens to be afflicted with crippling chronic hiccups, which admittedly do not make for good recordings, but here he is anyway.

As a gamer he began life back with Nintendo, but has since moved onto bigger (and frankly, better) things, with his favourite games now consitsting mainly of RPGs and Rougelike games, with a big sprinkle of  Action/Adventure thrown in, although he does retain a lvoe of platforming, while occasionally dipping his toes into the PC gaming market of MOBAs.

Outside of gaming he is often listening to and writing music, with a focus on film and game soundtracks, reading, both novels and comics, and watch TV and Film, with an inevitable focus on Star Wars, as all things in life lead back to Star Wars.

Matt Sculthorpe

Regular Podcasts: 1.21 Jigowatts

Matt is Mild Fuzz’s resident bro, while also maintaining a deep love of most things nerdy. Much like Harvey Dent, the two sides of his nature are constantly battling, neither maintaining control over the other. Surviving the heat of his native Las Vegas, he also may be a descendant of Vikings, despite his smaller stature, which would explain his eagerness to settle things like “gentlemen.”

Of the nerd realms, Matt’s most active in the movies and comics spectrum. He often gets into trouble defending the honor of Superman and counts Steven Spielberg as a father figure. Matt has actively collected comics since 2005. He counts Raiders of the Lost Ark and Jurassic Park as films that have made him the mostly responsible adult he has become. He also counts dinosaurs, science and history among academic pursuits and detests sleeves almost as much as hipsters, his one natural enemy.

When not discussion comics and movies, he can be found training to be a Jedi, unlike his father before him, but who showed him Star Wars at such a young age, he can’t remember a time before Star Wars. Matt also enjoys serialized television, pop punk, professional wrestling, Monster Energy, and most things Disney.

Favorite movies: Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jurassic Park, Jaws, The Goonies, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, The Incredibles, The Dark Knight, Big Trouble in Little China, The Aviator, Psycho, Original Star Wars Trilogy , Back to the Future most Spielberg and Hitchcock

TV shows: Breaking Bad, LOST, Friday Night Lights, Scrubs, Parks and Rec, The Office, Firefly, Game of Thrones, Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Comics The Flash by Geoff Johns, Green Lantern by Johns, Teen Titans by Johns, Birthright by Mark Waid, Daredevil by Brian Michael Bendis, Jason Aaron’s Thor, Southern Bastards by Jason Aaron, Immortal Iron Fist by Matt Fraction and Ed Brubaker.

Tim Vargulish

Regular Podcasts: Screams After Midnight

Tim’s a longtime lover of the paranormal, animals, comic books, and the other usual crap that everyone likes. He moved from Rhode Island to Los Angeles in 2012 to pursue his dream of being a failure in a warmer climate. When he’s not at his day job he might be working on a comic book or performing stand-up comedy. Stand-up and sketch videos of Tim can be found by searching his name on Youtube.

Tim’s biggest passion would be comic books. He grew up on cartoons like X-Men and Batman the Animated Series and started regularly reading comics after seeing the first Hellboy movie in 2004. Some of his favorite writers and artists include Mike Mignola, Rick Remender, Brian Michael Bendis, and Ed Brubaker. In 2013 Tim began writing and drawing his own comic book series Goatman.
